I had posted a picture weeks ago of an araucana/ameraucana cross chick that was sprouting out striped (black and white) wing feathers. Then as it got a little
older, it changed slightly. She was hatched around June 1st of this year and is now finally sprouting ear tufts and muffs (and maybe a beard). She is the
most strangest looking color I have ever seen. Anyone have any ideas as to what color she is?? A splash?? LOL She will probably lay green eggs but she will

I'm really happy with the molting process this year, some of my girls were nearly naked and looked so horrible, but it wasn't long before the feathers
came back in. It seems like they looked horrible for a long time last year, the only thing I'm doing different is a feeding of black oil sunflower seeds
every day.

But a couple of the hens who had back feathers taken off by my young, way to amorous rooster, whom I rehomed, have never had those feathers come back, what...

I waited till it cooled here in Alabama as Alfalfa is a cool weather crop.

refinish them and use for coffee tables but our house is just too small. Don't know yet what I'll do with them but anxious to open them up to see

For those of you who weren't in on the last time I talked about making my own kitty litter, I am posting again about using plain old shredded paper. I know
what an expense it is and time, hauling those heavy bags or boxes home from the store and then hauling out the dirty stuff and disposing of it. Clay litter is
the cheapest but it doesn't break down, I've bought two or three other more environmentally friendly brands and they worked well. Then one day I ran

them up earlier or just letting them stay up later? Which would be optimal for continued egg laying throughout the winter months? I have been turning the

Here is a list of the 26-week old pullets that I have. I know that only 6-7 of them are laying currently. I have 34 of these pullets and consequently feel I
should be getting a lot more eggs per day. Can those of you in the know please offer an opinion on the age that each of these breeds should be starting to
lay? I've got 5 white egg layers but only get 3 white eggs a day, and I'm certain that only one of my EE is currently laying.
