expected hatch is Nov. 9th, so with a cage ready for them I can finalize the order. I'm getting blue, white, and partridge and am so excited.

One day they were all fine and the next day I found the two yellows pecked to death. Ivy had been over zealous in her jealousy of other chicks and killed them.
I didn't imagine that would happen.

The scene: A SS Hamburg with a chick. Fast forward four days, the same SS Hamburg with two chicks. Where the second one came from is a mystery but obviously
much younger than its sib.
Problem: Second peep not ready for prime time. Cried constantly for extra warmth. Struggled mightily to keep up.
Solution: Remove SS Hamburg peep and put it with Silkie that had peeps.
That worked quite well. Silkie gave the new peep the evil eye for a moment then promptly fluffed...

outgrowing their enclosure and I want to integrate them with the hens. The layer ration I use says to start at 18 weeks, but will the chicks be harmed if they
eat some before that? My hens have plenty of room to roam and the grain only makes up a small part of their diet; it is not like they are cooped up with only
the layer ration to eat....

My son found a mother duck that was hit and killed by a car, then he found the baby ducks. Some kids were picking on the ducklings. And my son knew enough to
stop this and gather the ducks up and bring them home. We have raised chickens from hatchmany times before. So he knew that without the warmth and protection
of the mother duck they would not make it.

I have a golden sexlink chick aproximatly 8weeks old. This morning all was fine and dandy. I came home and checked on the flock, and this one bird is walking
funny. The best way to describe it is like a child crouched down with their knees up to their chest, trying to waddle. She is eating and drinking, and I
cannot find any trace of injury. She will stand normally for a bit, but as soon as she tries to walk, the backside goes down, and she waddles. I've
