Hello everybody...

My buddy has my Chicken Health Handbook and one of my birds is acting strange.

When I let the girls out this morning, Eunice wasn't darting around grabbing snacks like usual.

Basically, she's moving around very slowly, almost like she can't see well. I picked her up and she does have blinking reflexes but she keeps walking
into areas and just standing there like she can't get her bearings. Her crop is empty, her butt is a little runny but not pasted....

She seems to be doing well, although she'll a little lighter.
She marched right out to the garden and plopped down to munch on tender weeds yesterday.
She seems to listen for cues from the other girls and where they are located.
As long as she's thriving, were happy.

Its not all that difficult having a blind bird. I have one boy that is blind. I never move his water or feed, he has a companion bird to help guide him. If he
goes out he goes in to a pen the same size as his inside pen with food and water in the same spot that would coincide with his dishes inside.

He got out on me one day. I forgot to close a door. I found him hunkered in some thick grass about 100 feet from the coop.

I have a long water trough and feeder very close to one another and since this began we've seen her at both. I'm going to put an extra waterer in the
enclosed run attached to the coop.
As long as she is self sufficient and the others aren't picking on her she'll be ok. We've been checking in on her more often than ususal. She has
no other symptoms and doesn't seem terribly stressed out about the situation, It must have happened gradually.

Any tips on...

Wazine will only get round worms, unfortunately we have quite a few others out there that can cause problems. But you thinking its neuro points away from them.

She might have eaten something that was toxic and has caused her some problems. Is she eating on her own if the dish is easily reached? Is she drinking OK? You
can try the molassis treatment. Its listed in the reference section for how to use and how much. I'd also experiment to see if electrolytes do anything for
her.

Okay, so here's the update...
She's definately having a vision or neurological issue. I took the bowl of mashed egg out to her, held it just below beak level and she ate some. I put the
bowl on the ground and she kept pecking at the air where the bowl was. I tried this several times with the same result. She did respond to me wagging my finger
by her eye, she pecked it. There is no obvious trauma to her eye or head, not so much as a feather out of place, although she has been...

I will boil up a few eggs for her.

Collected one today, wasn't hers.

Have you wormed them? If you did, what did you use?

Is she or has she been laying regularly? Any chance she's molting?

You need to try and get her to eat something. Try hard boiled egg, her feed made in to a mash, cooked oatmeal. The moist food will also help get some fluids in
her.
