What kind of bird is this? |

This is a "rare exotic" sent along with the New Hampshire Reds we got from Murray McMurray. Anyone know its breed and gender?

Hello and welcome to BYC. It looks to me to be an Easter Egger and a boy from looking at the saddle feathers. I might could be wrong but that is my guess on
the sex. He sure is a beautiful color. How old is he?
I'm no spring chicken, but I'm still kickin

Thanks to all who answered me. I finally heard from McMurray Hatchery. They say it is a female araucana. Guess we'll just have to wait to see if this
chicken lays an egg or crows!
Thanks again. Jane |

Not a pullet and not an Araucana. It's a male Easter Egger.

I am still not sure why McMurray continues to call Easter Eggers as 'Exotic and Rare'. LOL Just seems odd.

Probably a good guess Theresa. But at some point they are going to have to realize they aren't only dealing with the average person...cause most of us (me
and Todd) are below average...LOL
