I have black predatory insects lodging around the eyes of my ducklings and they are sucking blood. How do I get rid of them without poisoning my baby ducks?
Need help. Thanks,

Not knowing for sure what they are the only advice I can offer is this.
Many years ago I found a house finch along the side of the road, it could not see because it had mites so bad they had attacked the eye area and had crusted over. I made a few calls and talked to a bird rehabilitator in my area and she said to get a flea and mite spot on treatment for cats and put a drop on the oil gland area. That way when the bird preened itself it would come in contact around the head area. She said to make sure it was for treatin mites. This I did and within a few days the bird was well enough to be released. I hope this helps some. If it were me I would give it a try.
I'm no spring chicken, but I'm still kickin
