I recently was given some hens from a friend and can't figure out this breed. She is smaller than a standard hen, but not as small as a bantam. She is
black with green sheen (like a black australorps) very small comb, her feathers on her neck are long and almost look roosterish, and she has a fifth toe. I
thought it was a spur at first, but she has no other signs of being a rooster. Haven't seen her lay yet...

I don't know but I'd say it could be a young rooster. I had something similar last year with a "hen" we bought that turned out to be an
rooster. It also had a sheen on it's back. It didn't crow until much later after it started looking more like a rooster. Yours may change as it gets
older. As I say, I don't know but that's my own thoughts.
Sorry I can't help you with the breed, I'm trying to work that out myself with mine

I'm definitely no pro on this but it appears to be rumpless, so it is my guess it has some araucana in the mix some where, as far as the dark colored
head that tells me it's a mixed breed of some sort, it almost looks like a Sumatra......interesting for sure:) Pretty bird though.......it's a keeper:)
