When I was teenager our neighbors cat got ran when her kittens were just days old. I was visiting whwn she was trying yo get them to nurse from a bottle without much luck. Two had already died. I had a small dog that had just had puppies that were the same color as the kittens and suggested that we try to get her to take the two kittens that remained. I put the puppies and the kittens in a box and let them mill around about an hour without their mother. Then I put them back with their mother. One of the kittens died before it ever started nursing but the other grew to be a very large tom cat. He thought he was a dog, even tried to bark! As close as a cat could come to a bark. Definitely not a normal cat meow. He chased cats just like the pups and would trail allong when we went squirrel hunting. He could climb the trees allot further than the pups though. He was about two years old before he found out he was a tom cat.
