It's one of those I wasn't paying attention to. They'd been sitting on the same nest for a while and I had plans to remove one and keep the other
sitting there. But I didn't.
The chicks hatched (3 in all) and somehow both hens became their mothers and there has been no confusion. Unfortunately we had a rat attack or something and lost two of the chicks, but the third one has been mothered very well by both hens, something I wasn't expecting.
