I would say they'd hatch at different times, though I'm not sure. Usually when I've seen a broody hen I wait until the next day to make sure she's broody, then I mark them with pencil. The delay might be 24-32 hrs. It certainly seems to be the case, the chicks usually have several hours between hatching, even a day between them. In my experience the hens don't leave the nest straight away, as the chicks don't need to eat just yet (still with yolk absorbed in belly) and this gives enough time for the other eggs to catch up. But I really haven't seen what happens if I leave it another day, I've tried to avoid it to be honest.

Next year I want to do something different, I want to put aside some eggs, put them in storage for a while and wait for a broody hen. I've read that when kept right they can stay fertile for up to two weeks. It's the only way of getting a good sized clutch, otherwise I usually just get 2 or 3 eggs (they're not always constant and humans need to eat too! )

I've also heard that chicks can synchronise their hatching! When they start cheeping in their eggs it encourages the others to start as well. Though I'm not sure if this would work for a 2 day delay.
