Posts: 1 09/07/09 07:55 PM	I was told these were cornish hens an roo and would provide good eggs and meat. these birds are 10 weeks old and spare like game birds. A poor picture, can send a better one. Can someone remark on this? This chickens look like Dustin's, go to General Discussion and down the page find the 'Updated photo's of my birds' thread and look at his. I've also read that Feathersite is a great place to find pictures of all kinds of chickens. Julie

Posts: 787 09/08/09 05:51 PM	I can't see them really well, but they definately look like Oriental game. Can you get closer pictures of them. They very well could be dark cornish (Indian game fowl) but they dont look exactly right. Looking at your post, they do look more like a cornish crossed with an american game.

Posts: 2 09/09/09 06:39 PM	thanks everyone for the comments and feedback. Take a look at these new photos. I thought the same thing BeckT...those are some long legs. These birds are 21/2 months old and stand about a foot and a half tall weighing in around 2lbs. I wanted a dual use bird and my friend got these from his neighbor who, in turn, breeds game, araucanas, and some other tall breeds but claims to get good egg and meat production from these. I held one of his full grown roosters (still haven't identified any like it online) and it weighed in at about 10lbs with drumsticks the size of coke bottles...good natured, but one big bird. Posts: 792 09/09/09 06:59 PM	They are game crosses. To be exact on the breed, I cannot, but I suspect that they are crosses of American game and oriental game. They will produce eggs, but nothing like a "layer" bird will. They will not be as consistent in their laying habbits and depending on how much game they have in them, will be apt to hide eggs because they are frequent sitters.

Posts: 4 09/09/09 07:29 PM	Many thanks Dustin. I've had production sexlinks and though great egg producers they are heavy in the attitude with other birds (as well as cats, riding lawnmowers, chicken hawks, etc) and light on meat production.
