Yeah!!! Our first black ameraucana chick hatched overnight last night under my broody buff ameraucana hen!! I let her sit on three of the black ameraucana
pullet eggs (blue eggs) and so far one has hatched, and waiting on the other two. This is good news as it proves that my new black ameraucana pullets eggs are
hatchable!! And the nice thing about it is the daddy is ameraucana and also carries the blue egg gene!! Woo hoooo!!!
This is my buff ameraucana hen's first hatch, and I am surprised that she is broody as most standard hens do not show an interest unless someone else goes broody (like a silkie hen). She is definitely a keeper!

However the little thing slips under momma before I can get a pic. It will
probably be a few days before I get pics as momma is still sitting on the other two eggs which should be hatching anytime (if fertile).
And
Blondie is doing a good job.
