I'm really happy with the molting process this year, some of my girls were nearly naked and looked so horrible, but it wasn't long before the feathers
came back in. It seems like they looked horrible for a long time last year, the only thing I'm doing different is a feeding of black oil sunflower seeds
every day.
But a couple of the hens who had back feathers taken off by my young, way to amorous rooster, whom I rehomed, have never had those feathers come back, what gives? I got some chicken saddles from Moodene to protect them, took them off a few weeks later and there are still a couple of bare backs. Is this for good? I'll have to knit some sweaters going into winter! Julie
