Hello,
My Buff Orp. has been under the weather for 8 days now. She appears to be internal laying. She's been on antibiotics for 7 days now and yesterday I read about giving her tums. She's eating and still getting out of bed, but slowly. But she's sleeping in the nest box. Her abdomen is full but not hard as a rock but tight like it's full of fluid. Yesterday we gave her tums and yogurt plus other veggie treats she loves. And she's eating bugs and worms. She's holding her tail down and sometimes her poop has yellow yolk looking stuff in it. She's also walking bow legged and sometimes she will just sit and try to nap. Very docile and will let me hold her. Yesterday her comb looked a little droopy but her color seems good. I read mention about draining the fluid in her abdomen? Is this something anyone can do? Last year my I had another BO have internal laying but she was dead with in 5 days. The autopsy showed 6-7 shell less eggs in side.
They always have oyster shell and grit available and we feed them high quality layer feed. They forage for worms and we give them veggies for treats. Occasionally some cheese or scratch.
Is there anything else I can do for her????? It's so sad seeing them not feel well!!
Thanks!
