I have actually purchased a chicken diaper!
The website that will take you directly to Ruth Cahill's website is www.chickendiapers.com She did a great job, and I am impressed that someone could come up with an invention like this. My husband likes to bring one of our chickens inside the house and the chicken diaper has saved me from getting on my hands and knees looking for poo and cleaning poo. Not hard to use either, the hardest part is measuring your bird. The trick is to put their head under your arm, works best if you have a coat or flannel on. |

I broke down. If the girls are going to be in the house. They're getting diapers. Hubby's complaining about the new rug being ruined and I'm not going to get rid of the girls. I think the girly purple roses for Obelisk and a more masculine camoflage or black for Slifer.

I ordered one "just to have" in case one of mine were injured and I wanted to be able to give them free-rein around the house. Ruth is very conscietious (sp?) about measurements and will communicate well with you. I got the diaper....hard to put on at first and pictures are a little confusing, but I did it with help in figuring it out.

I haven't gotten them yet, but gonna put the order in today. I had to figure out how to measure and I had to wait til she got back to me. I measured from the shoulder to the tail fine, it was the other measurement that gave me trouble. I measured from under the base of the tail to the vent. Caution!!! Do Not Use A Cold Metal Tape Measure!!! Obelisk was not amused.

They've been around for quite a while. I posted her site 'cause she's so reasonable. One of the sellers is selling them for $50. Lot of folks make their own once they've ordered them and have a pattern to follow. Ruth's in Arkansas. Here's her phone number: 501-520-5685 The way the diaper is made, the poop is kept away from the vent/feathers. Just remember to periodically check for an egg if it's a hen. She doesn't need to lug the thing around! :o) |

This pic was requested to be added to this stickied diaper link. This was sent to me by another member so I can't take credit for the idea. This temporary diaper works great in a pinch & consist of 3 holes. One for the legs,tail, & wings. A sanitary napkin can be used to help contain the mess.
